Thinking Inside the Bus

Thinking Inside the Bus

“A designer knows that perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.”

This sentiment by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry has been ‘improved’ by Nigel Benton, our branding and concept designer.

Nigel from Nottingham has more than 30 years’ experience in creative and graphic design, branding and advertising.

He recently completed a branding and design project for a start-up family business which is setting up a prosecco bar and pâtisserie on a double decker bus. As well as the usual logo, stationery design and website requirements, Nigel took the initiative and started to think about the bigger picture.

Although the client didn’t originally include the design of the vehicle in the brief, Nigel realised the only way to really get an appreciation for how the branding might look was to create a visual concept for the bus itself.

When the clients saw the completed designs they said: “You have captured everything we want for the bus and the colour is fantastic.”

Nigel was delighted with the client’s feedback, especially the positive response to something that, until that point, didn’t exist.

Side-stepping convention and promoting a different way of doing things is Nigel’s forte. But understanding a client’s needs and working to interpret that into something tangible is what Nigel loves. It’s the reason he’s been working in design for so long!
